Shorts, as seen in the previous post, in summer are suitable for all ages and body types and can be appropriate on several occasions. Plus, as every season there are new, appealing styles on display in stores, the choice in colors, designs, and patterns is practically limitless.
.
Though, in order to avoid being caught in the “fashion trap” only ending up with something totally unsuitable for your body type, some precaution is necessary, as well as a certain awareness of which styles are flattering, and which ones have quite an unsightly outcome.
.
If you want to look slimmer and thinner while enhancing the shape of your legs, an useful help comes from choosing the correct length of your shorts and Bermuda shorts. A mid-thigh length is usually the worst choice, as this does not help to make the legs looking longer. As you can clearly see in the pictures below, the mid-thigh pattern (on the left) can make your thighs look fuller while highlighting your knees, and your hips and legs look larger than they really are.
.
Conversely, with the “really short shorts” (on the right), the leg looks longer and the figure looks slimmer. The knee, even if uncovered, is not highlighted, and any imperfections can easily pass unnoticed.
Similarly, knee-length trousers can also make your figure seem taller. A difference of a few inches can be enough: sometimes just by lowering the hem of your Bermudas by a couple of inches, you can get an excellent result.
.
The only drawback of Bermuda pants is that, if you do not have long, lean legs, they usually require a medium-heeled sandal (wedges in cork or rope are usually the best choice).
Conversely, very-short-shorts can be paired with ballet flats or low-heeled sandals still delivering an excellent outcome.
Now on to more trendy styles, tailored patterns not only are totally flattering, they are a very sophisticated choice that allows you to wear your signature shorts also in more formal settings.
.
The same can’t be said, however, for legging shorts (that are totally fashionable this season). Not only they are anything but chic, they will easily make you look bulkier – even if your figure if perfectly toned.
Similarly, denim shorts seldom allow lovely results and are therefore suitable mostly for skinny teenagers that would like to look more full-figured.
.
One last warning: don’t even think about wearing shorts with socks or thighs. If you want to look polished and classy, this is a no-no, whatever the trend. If you’re afraid of feeling cold, wear something else. You’ll surely look more stylish.
Or pair your shorts with a long-sleeved, soft, fine-knit sweater. The outcome will be just perfect!
